Although it wasn’t a free agent signing or a trade, we got some pretty big Dodgers news on Wednesday.
Per general manager Brandon Gomes, who spoke to the media at the GM meetings in San Antonio, the team is planning on moving Mookie Betts back to the infield for 2025.
I wrote about this the other day, suggesting Betts would move back to second base next season. This might sound familiar, as this was the exact plan for Betts last offseason. He was expected to be the every day second baseman, but once Gavin Lux proved he was unable to handle shortstop, Betts slid over there.
Betts was LA’s starting shortstop until he broke his hand in June. Once Betts returned, he went back to right field.
With Betts moving back to second base, this opens up a spot in right field for the Dodgers. Are there any notable free agents on the market who could play right field? This also means the Dodgers are going to need to find a spot for Lux as well.
