It’s been like watching a horror movie, waiting with agonizing fear for something bad to happen.

Up until this point, there have been a few jump scares here and there. Something that gets your heart racing, but ultimately it ends up being okay and you settle back down. Deep down though, you know the scariest scene still awaits.

I wish I didn’t have to to compare the start of Craig Kimbrel’s Dodgers career to a horror movie, but it’s felt that way through the first two months of the season so far.

On Monday night, Kimbrel blew his first save as the Dodgers closer. It was his 16th game of the season and his 11th save opportunity. There’s no such thing as a closer that doesn’t blow a save. It happens, that’s just part of baseball.

Although it was only his first blown save, this was long overdue. The last two weeks have felt like that long agonizing scene in Jaws, where the iconic musical score slowly starts building up, getting louder and louder as the camera pans closer and closer.

For the first time all season, an opposing team was finally able to draw blood.
