The minor league season is officially HERE! I know Oklahoma City started their season a week ago, but I wanted to wait for all the affiliates to return before bringing back the daily minor league recaps.
If you’re new here, every day during the season I will recap all four minor league affiliate games, that way you’re up to date on what is going down in the minors!
Every minor league recap will be free for all of my subscribers. If you’d like access to all of my other articles and support my work, please consider upgrading to a paid subscription!
Oklahoma City Baseball Club
In case you didn’t know, they dropped the Dodgers team name. They are the OKC Baseball Club for 2024.
OKC moved to 4-3 on the season with their 3-1 win over the Isotopes.
Miguel Vargas drove in his team-leading 13th RBI of the year. In seven games, Vagas is hitting .333 with an OPS of 1.147.
Eduardo Salazar allowed one run in six innings of work. He struck out three and issued four walks.
J.P. Feyereisen tossed a scoreless inning with a strikeout. He owns a 2.25 ERA through three outings.
Kevin Gowdy picked up his second save of the season after a scoreless outing. In five innings this season, Gowdy has seven strikeouts and has yet to allow a run.
Tulsa Drillers
The Drillers kicked off their season with a 6-4 win over the Naturals.
Diego Cartaya led the way for the offense as he reached base four times. He had two hits and drew two walks while driving in a run.
Dalton Rushing had an RBI triple.
Justin Wrobleski allowed one run in five innings of work. He struck out six and issued only one walk. He’s a name a lot of Dodgers fans should keep an eye on this year.
Jack Dreyer struck out four in two scoreless innings.
Great Lakes Loons
The Loons kicked off their season with a 3-2 victory over the TinCaps.
GL walked it off in the 11th thanks to a two-run inning. A run came in to score thanks to two wild pitches. Noah Miller then drove in the game-winning run with a single. Miller, 21, was the prospect the Dodgers received in the Manuel Margot trade.
Kyle Nevin reached base four times thanks to three walks.
Jackson Ferris struck out four in three innings. He allowed one run, though it was unearned. Ferris was the headline of the package the Dodgers received in their Michael Busch trade this offseason.
Lucas Wepf struck out three in three scoreless innings. He was a strikeout machine last season, as he had 88 strikeouts in 58 innings in 2023.
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes
We have our first loss of the day, as the Quakes dropped their opener to the Storm, 11-5.
Remember earlier how I mentioned that Michael Busch trade? Well, the other prospect they got back was Zyhir Hope and he homered in his debut. He also singled and walked. According to Twitter, he also had an outfield assist as well. The outfielder is only 19…. and now I officially feel old.
Josue De Paula reached base twice and drove in two runs.
Kendall George reached base twice and scored two runs. The speedster also stole his first base of the season.
Patrick Copen got the start and allowed three runs in 1.2 innings of work. He did have three strikeouts, if you want a positive.

Really appreciate these Minor League recaps!
Thanks for the restart. Been waiting for it, searching for news about OKC.
Good to see who the Dodgers didn't trade, Miguel Vargas, is upholding his 4A Player Status. Still waiting on MLB level.
Whereas, Michael Busch (19 ABs / .316 BA / 6 hits / 4 BB / Ks) who was the difference maker in the Dodgers/Cubs game with a HR and his excellent glove play at a critical point yesterday, makes one wonder if the Dodgers traded the wrong player.
Maybe today Busch will prove the Dodgers right, but I do not think Miguel ever hit anywhere near .316 during his time in the majors 2023. Not even in the first few weeks.
While he is hot, maybe the Dodgers will use Vargas to pry Tanner Scott away from the 0-8 Marlins. Or, they could hold on to Vargus till he is too old to have any value.
