Down on the farm: Hyun-Seok Jang has best outing of minor league career
He's a name to get familiar with
A recap of Thursday’s minor league action.
Oklahoma City Baseball Club
After back-to-back offensive games, it was a quiet night as OKC fell to the Aviators, 9-2.
Tommy Edman drove in both runs with a home run, his first of his rehab assignment.
That was it for OKC’s offense. For the game, they only went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position.
The pitching wasn’t any better, as all five pitchers allowed a run.
Tulsa Drillers
Speaking of no offense, the Drillers got shutout by the RockHounds, 3-0.
As a team, they did have six hits, but went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
Carlos Duran (RHP) got the start and allowed two runs in 2.2 innings of work. He still owns a 1.99 ERA with the Drillers this year.
Hyun-il Choi (RHP) kept the game close, as he was fantastic in relief. He went six innings and allowed only one run on two hits. He also struck out five.
Great Lakes Loons
The Loons swept the double header with the Captains.
They won the first game, 4-2.
Josue De Paula (LF) led the team with two hits.
Dylan Campbell (RF) drove in a team-high two runs with a single.
Peter Heubeck (RHP) allowed only one run in four innings. He struck out four. In 20 starts with the Loons this season, the 22-year-old has a 2.81 ERA and has 99 strikeouts in only 77 innings.
Brandon Neeck (LHP) followed with only one run on one hit in three innings. He struck out three.
The Loons won the second game, 4-1.
Dylan Campbell (CF) drove in two runs with his ninth homer of the season.
Wyatt Crowell (LHP) allowed one run in 3.2 innings. LA’s 4th round pick in 2023 has a 2.79 ERA in three starts with the Loons this season.
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes
The Quakes defeated the Rawhide, 6-3.
Samuel Munoz (CF) drove in three runs with his fourth homer of the season. He also walked twice.
Jose Meza (RF) drove in two runs with a triple.
Hyun-Seok Jang (RHP) had a much better outing than his Quakes debut last week. He struck out seven in three scoreless innings, allowing only one hit. There’s still a lot for him to work on, as he owns a 7.85 ERA between 12 starts in the Arizona Complex League and Low-A. There’s a lot to like, though, as he has 59 strikeouts in only 29 innings.
