A recap of Thursday’s minor league action.
Oklahoma City Comets
The Comets defeated the Isotopes, 6-5.
Michael Chavis (2B) led the way with three hits and three RBI. He also drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Dalton Rushing (1B) reached base three times with two walks and a single.
Michael Kopech made his first rehab outing of the year…. it didn’t go well. He walked all five batters he faced and threw only three strikes total. The good news is he hit 98-mph, so the velocity looks fine. Going to have to get a few more outings under his belt until he’s ready to return.
Jose Rodriguez (RHP) made his OKC debut, striking out four in two innings. He’s a name we could see get called up at some point this year. The 23-year-old has 231 strikeouts in 166 career minor league innings.
Tulsa Drillers
The Drillers lost both games of their doubleheader with the Sod Poodles.
They dropped the first game, 6-5.
Damon Keith (DH) drove in two runs with his fourth homer of the season.
Jared Karros (RHP) went five innings and allowed three earned runs. He had three strikeouts. The outing actually lowered his ERA to 7.82.
The Drillers lost the next game by one run as well, 5-4.
Ezequiel Pagan (LF) drove in two runs with his third homer of the year.
Jerming Rosario (RHP) allowed two runs in 5.1 innings with three strikeouts.
Great Lakes Loons
The Loons fell to the Dragons in extras, 3-2.
Josue De Paula (RF) had two doubles, pushing his OPS above .900 on the season.
Zyhir Hope (DH) reached base twice.
Wyatt Crowell (LHP) allowed two runs in five innings. He had five strikeouts and allowed only two hits.
Cam Day (RHP) followed in relief and didn’t allow an earned run in four innings. He struck out four.
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes
It was a blowout victory for the Quakes, as they took down the Rawhide, 13-0.
Eduardo Quintero (CF) had a three-hit day, including hitting two home runs.
Mike Sirota (RF) reached base four times and drove in two runs. His OPS with the Quakes is now 1.066.
