A recap of Tuesday’s minor league action.
Oklahoma City Comets
The Comets dropped the series opener, falling to the River Cats, 11-5.
Michael Chavis (2B) hit his eighth homer of the season.
Esteury Ruiz (RF) had two hits and drove in a run.
It was a rough outing for Justin Jarvis (RHP) as he allowed eight runs in only 2.1 innings of work.
Michael Kopech made another rehab appearance. Once again, he struggled. He failed to make it out of the inning as he recorded only two outs. He allowed two runs on three hits and issued a walk. In four outings, he’s only gone a combined 2.1 innings. He’s allowed 10 runs on six hits with seven walks….. not great! He’ll make a couple more appearances before being activated by the Dodgers.
Tulsa Drillers
The Drillers began their series with a 7-4 loss to the Cardinals.
Jose Ramos (LF) drove in two runs with a double. He also walked twice.
Chris Newell (CF) drove in two runs with a single.
Jared Karros (RHP) allowed four runs in six innings, which actually lowered his ERA down to 7.36.
Great Lakes Loons
Game rained out
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes
The Quakes fell in their series opener, losing to the Ports, 10-7.
Joendry Vargas (SS) led the team with three hits. He drove in two runs.
Eduardo Quintero (CF) drove in two runs with a hit.
Sterling Patick (LHP) allowed one run in two innings.
Kopech isn't necessarily walking a ton of people. But do you have an idea of why he isn't being that “game stop” that he was before?
Or is it that this is his Spring Training & he needs to work his stuff out?
Thanks Blake. Pointing out that Peter Heubeck, Driller's RHP, was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding six inning, 8k, 1 BB, 2 hit effort last Friday against NW Arkansas.
