The Dodgers need to shake up their lineup
The Dodgers' lineup has been underwhelming through the first month
We’re nearly a month into the season and the Dodgers have one of the best records in all of baseball. Their hot start to the 2022 campaign isn’t a surprise, but their offensive struggles certainly are.
When I say offensive struggles, I’m not trying to compare them to the Reds or DBacks. They’re still getting things done at the plate. With that being said, they’ve not met expectations up to this point.
Entering the season, this starting lineup was being praised as one of the greatest we’ve ever seen. Well, through the first three-and-a-half weeks, they’re about middle of the pack. As of May 3, LA ranks 11th in OPS (.705), 9th in wOBA (.318) and 10th in wRC+ (110). Their 21 home runs are the 14th most and their 102 runs scored are the ninth most.
Again, they’re in the top half of the league in each of those categories, but they’ve been underwhelming. A large reason for that has been a number of players getting off to a slow start. I know you’re not going to have all nine guys hot at the same time, but that doesn’t mean you should continuously throw the same lineup out there on a day-to-day basis.
The Dodgers need to shake up their lineup — and this is how they should do it.
