The Dodgers will not win a World Series with Craig Kimbrel as their closer
He's been one of the worst relievers in all of baseball
The Dodgers have the best record in all of baseball. They’re by far the best team in the league. They’re on pace to set a franchise record in wins and potentially break the MLB record as well.
That’s fantastic.
That will go down in the record books and will be remembered, but it doesn’t matter what you do from April-September. What matters is what you do in October, and I am scared out of my mind for one reason and one reason alone.
Craig Kimbrel.
After letting Kenley Jansen walk this offseason (I miss you so much, Kenley) the Dodgers traded AJ Pollock to acquire Kimbrel from the White Sox. They needed a closer and they got one.
The experiment has failed.
We’re halfway through August. The season has been going on for four months. The sample size is large enough. Kimbrel has been a disaster. Honestly, that’s putting it very, very kindly.
Like I mentioned, the Dodgers are the best team in baseball. They may even be one of the greatest teams in recent decades. None of that matters.
The Dodgers will not win the World Series if Craig Kimbrel is their closer.
