Through 50 games, same ole Dodgers
They're pretty good
The Dodgers are consistently good. That isn’t brand new information. With that said, it’s actually pretty remarkable just HOW consistent this team actually is.
Last night was the 50th game of the season for LA. After Monday night, we will officially be 1/3 of the way through the season. Seriously…. can time slow down a bit?
Through 50 games, the Dodgers are 31-19. They currently have the third best record in all of baseball and the second best record in the National League. Despite getting off to another hot start, it just feels like the Dodgers haven’t really hit their stride yet. I know, they’re near the top of all the offensive categories in baseball. Yes, they’re near the top among pitching categories as well. Still, it feels like their best baseball has yet to come.
Last night I thought it would be fun to take a look at how the Dodgers have done through 50 games over the years. Despite being 12 games above .500, I felt as if this was one of their worst 50-game starts in quite some time. Well, as it turns out, they’re right on schedule for where they normally are.
Dodgers through 50 games:
2026: 31-19
2025: 31-19
2024: 33-17
2023: 31-19
2022: 33-17
2021: 31-19
This is actually INSANE. The Dodgers have had only two records through 50 games over the last six years, including the same record in four of those years. No matter who is on the roster, no matter who is on the injured list, they seem to play the same brand of baseball through 50 games.
They obviously have finished with a different record every season, but they’re well on their way towards winning 100 games once again. They’re doing this while missing Blake Snell for essentially most of the season. Tyler Glasnow has been on the IL. Roki Sasaki has been bad. Edwin Diaz won’t be back until August. Mookie Betts has missed most of the year and has an OPS below .700. Tommy Edman and Kiké Hernández haven’t even played a game yet. Kyle Tucker and Will Smith have been disappointing.
Despite all of that, LA still owns the second best record in the NL. I know it’s easy to take this team for granted with all their success, but we really should try our best not to. It’s SO EASY to not live up to expectations. The Mets have the second highest payroll in baseball and are in last place in their division. The Blue Jays were two outs away from winning the World Series last year and are five games below .500.
Nothing is guaranteed in baseball. And yet, the Dodgers consistently find themselves at the very top every season.

for more than a decade they've won about two thirds of their home games and half the road games. given everything about baseball the consistency is absurd.
Great article. Hopefully our Thinking Blue chat will calm down after reading this. This team will figure it out and go on an unprecedented run in the back half of the season! I for one am looking forward to the ride!
